WHO KNEW Hanover Community Power (HCP) Rates Will Be Coming Down on August 1st?

WHO KNEW Hanover Community Power (HCP) rates will be coming down on August 1st?

It’s true. Twice a year, utilities renegotiate electricity rates, and HCP, as a member of the Community Coalition Power of New Hampshire (CPCNH), follows suit, at least for the time being. There is good news! Hanover Community Power’s (HCP’s) rates are all coming down! Its default -- Granite Plus that provides 33% renewable energy in contrast to Liberty’s and Eversource’s 23.4% -- will cost .94 cents less per kilowatt hour than Liberty and 1.28 cents less than Eversource.

The new rates come into effect on August 1 and are valid for six months through January 31, 2024. Liberty and Eversource rates will drop significantly from their current levels, and HCP rates will continue to compare favorably with respect to both price and renewable energy content. Here are the new rates and renewable energy content

Utilities

Liberty 12.242 cents (23.4% renewable)

Eversource 12.582 cents (23.4% renewable)

HCP Options

Granite Basic 10.9 cents (23.4% renewable)

Granite Plus (Hanover default) 11.3 cents (33% renewable)

Clean 50 12.3 cents (50% renewable)

Clean 100 15.2 cents (100% renewable)

With HCP, you can opt for a greener mix of electricity by choosing HCP’s Clean 50 or Clean 100. Currently, 4% of Hanover Community Power customers have done just that! We hope that percentage grows rapidly over time.

To change from Granite Plus to Clean 50 or Clean 100, go to www.communitypowernh.gov/hanover and scroll down to the section labeled “Electricity Supply Choices.” You may instead call (866) 603-POWR.

Whether you stay with Granite Plus, opt up to Clean 50 or Clean 100, or even opt down to Granite Basic, Hanover Community Power will save you money in the long run and provide cleaner electricity, all while investing in a more resilient energy future for Hanover and beyond.
