WHO KNEW that EB White, Author of Charlotte’s Web, Wrote “Every morning I awake torn between a desire to save the world and an inclination to savor it. This makes it hard to plan the day.”

This Valentine’s Day, take a walk in Pine Park. According to award winning author Florence Williams, in her book, The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier and More Creative, studies were done that show spending time in nature is important for our mental and physical health. Savoring the forest experience can reduce our heart rate, blood pressure, stress levels and improve cognitive performance. Forest bathing is a Japanese term for immersing yourself in the forest’s soothing combination of sights, sounds and aromas. Five hours per month spent in nature seems to be the minimum amount of time needed to measure positive results. Slowly wander through Pine Park, breath deeply and relax.

Maybe we need to savor our world for the inspiration it offers and for the strength it gives us in order to save our earth.
