WHO KNEW You Could Help Improve Transportation Accessibility on Oct 4th?

Nearly 1 in 3 people in our communities cannot drive themselves. That includes kids, older adults, people with disabilities, and anyone without access to a car. Too often, this means relying on family or friends to chauffeur them around, or missing out on opportunities altogether. Imagine instead a region where people of all ages could get to school, work, the library, or the trail on their own—safely and with dignity.

That’s what a “Week Without Driving” (Sept 29 – Oct 5) helps us see: how critical it is to invest in safe, connected options for everyone. It’s not just about reducing traffic or emissions—it’s about giving people the independence they need and deserve. To join in this effort, sign up at AmericaWalks and share your thoughts with the hashtag #WeekWithoutDriving!

One exciting local way to support that vision is to join us for a special Community Bike-to-Trails Event:

📍 Kilton Library, 80 Main St, West Lebanon, NH 03784

📅 Saturday, October 4th @ 10AM

There will be a special Hanover contingent, departing from Town Hall at 41 S. Main Street, Hanover, NH at 9:30 AM to ride to the Kilton Library!

🚴 At 10 AM we’ll ride together from Kilton Library to Boston Lot in West Lebanon, showing our collective support for the West Lebanon and Hanover Greenway (WaHG). The Greenway has been identified as a regional priority because it would connect the two communities with a safe, accessible, multi-use, three-mile trail—a vital step toward making biking and walking not just possible, but enjoyable and safe for all.

The Greenway isn’t just a path—it’s a promise of freedom, health, and independence for people who would no longer need to depend on a car or a ride.

Whether you’re a daily rider, an occasional walker, or simply someone who wants to see a stronger, more connected Upper Valley with sustainable transportation alternatives, your voice and presence matter. Together, we can help create a region where mobility is a right, not a privilege.
