WHO KNEW That Just a Few Simple Tweaks Can Add Up to a Lower Energy Bill?

Energy bills can be high, especially during the winter months where 40% of a typical New Hampshire household’s energy bill is related to home heating. Other energy guzzlers include appliances, hot water, air conditioning, and lighting. If you want to discover ways to reduce your energy usage in all these areas, NHSAVES offers a “Button Up” workshop that provides tips and advice for how you can become more energy efficient in your home. Please join us for an online workshop on March 12, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. This Zoom-only program is sponsored by Sustainable Hanover and is free and open to the public.

At the workshop you can learn how to reduce your use of energy and get answers to questions such as:

Is it smarter, dollar-wise, to replace windows or get heat-saving window treatments?

What rebates are available for energy-saving appliances?

Where in my home should I look for the worst energy leaks?

How can I identify the energy hogs in my home?

There are many ways to save energy with little tweaks that cost only a few dollars or nothing at all. For example, you can use a watt meter to reveal how many watts are being used by a single item that you have plugged into your wall. In its “Library of Things” Hanover’s Howe Library has three watt meters available for loan. At the Button Up workshop you’ll learn about more sophisticated technology that allows you to track energy usage hour by hour throughout your home.

Please join us on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. for the NHSAVES Zoom-only “Button Up” workshop sponsored by Sustainable Hanover. No registration is necessary.
