WHO KNEW Hanover Community Power (HCP) Is Coming Soon?
Community power aggregation brings cities and towns together to boost their collective buying power in order to purchase less expensive and cleaner electricity for their residents and businesses. The entity overseeing the program is a new nonprofit power agency—Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH)—which is governed by the towns, cities and counties which make up its membership. Hanover is a member and will launch Hanover Community Power (HCP) to provide electricity for Hanover residents this spring.
What changes can consumers expect? Lower electricity rates and the option for individuals to choose increasingly clean, renewable electricity.
What will stay the same? If you are a Liberty Utilities (or Eversource) customer, you will still get your bills from your utility, but your bill will show that your electricity has been procured by Hanover Community Power.
Worried about what happens when a storm knocks out power like what happened in December? Liberty (or Eversource) will still maintain and repair the poles and wires that carry the electricity to your home.
Want to access renewable energy but can’t install solar panels on your property? Community power offers the opportunity to buy increasing percentages of renewable energy for your electricity needs and help move the town toward its goal of using 100% renewably sourced electricity by 2030.
