WHO KNEW Employers Can Get Help Installing EV Chargers?
Employers who want to install chargers for employees with electric vehicles can get help from a federal infrastructure program designed to help with planning and implementation. The program is called EMPOWER (Equitable Mobility Powering Opportunities for Workplace Electrification Readiness), and it is run locally by the Granite State Clean Cities Coalition. Vermont has a similar program with the Vermont Clean Cities Coalition.
By clicking on the EMPOWER link, and signing a pledge, employers will be assigned a coach who will guide them through every step of the workplace charging process, including finding incentives to reduce the cost.
The number of EV drivers is increasing rapidly. Hanover alone had 232 registered EV’s in 2022. By installing EV chargers, employers can attract and retain employees plus contribute to reducing greenhouse gasses and meeting their climate goals. As a final benefit, any employer who uses EMPOWER gets local and national recognition as an EV friendly workplace.
