WHO KNEW Small Hanover Businesses Can Get FREE Energy Audits If they Act NOW?
Sustainable Hanover just learned that businesses in Hanover can obtain FREE Level II energy audits with no obligation to implement recommended improvements. These audits generally cost between $5k and $7k. AN INTERESTED BUSINESS MUST CONTACT GABE CHELIUS (gabriel@cleanenergynh.org) NO LATER THAN AUGUST 14, 2026.
What is a Level II energy audit?
A Level II energy audit (ASHRAE-standard, conducted by a qualified energy auditor) includes a site visit and comprehensive report on current energy use, recommended efficiency improvements, expected savings, cost, and simple payback.
Why the rushed timeline?
Clean Energy NH only recently received authorization to deploy USDA funding for energy audits. This funding expires after Sept 30th. Therefore, all audits must be completed and reports finalized before this date.
Who is eligible?
Agricultural producers, small businesses, and co-ops located in “rural” areas according to the USDA are eligible. Nonprofits and residential properties, including multi-family, are NOT. If you are uncertain whether your business qualifies, contact Gabe Chelius.
What is required of participating businesses?
Participating businesses must:
Respond promptly to Clean Energy NH and the energy auditor
Provide three years of electric data and heating fuel use
Provide your NAICS Code (commonly found in your tax information)
Schedule an on-site audit where a business representative is present and the auditor has access to the entire facility/ies.
Provide CENH with a copy of the energy audit report, including any photos taken during the audit.
Please note that businesses may be turned away if energy auditors able to complete the work by the deadline cannot be found.
