WHO KNEW the Upper Valley Is Joining the National Sun Day Celebration on Sept. 21?
Sun Day (sunday.earth) is a day of action to celebrate the progress we’ve made on wind and solar technologies and to stand up for a clean energy future. Sustainable Hanover is joined by the Energy Committees of Norwich, Lyme and Thetford, as well as Sustainable Lebanon, to organize an event on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Join us at 10:30 a.m. on the Hanover side of Ledyard Bridge (parking is available in the lots on both sides of the river) as we parade across the bridge and up the hill to the Norwich Green, where we will have a range of solar-focused activities and demos from 11:00-1:00. Participants include Revision Energy, Fogg’s Hardware, SunCommon, The Norwich Bookstore, Fossil Free Dartmouth, area churches, VT and NH clean energy advocates, and more, including activities for kids.
Clean energy technologies are the future. Solar is now the cheapest form of power on the planet (https://www.carbonbrief.org/solar-is-now-cheapest-electricity-in-history-confirms-iea/), and it's generating huge amounts of jobs. The rest of the world is surging forward with clean energy technologies, and China is leading the way (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-06-23/china-solar-additions-surge-to-record-in-may-ahead-of-deadline). The US needs to move away from fossil fuels and continue investing in solar and wind, which is cheap and clean and provides us with energy independence from political instability.
Please join us on Sunday, Sept. 21. Sign up at the link: https://actionnetwork.org/events/upper-valley-sun-day?source=direct_link&, or just show up on the day!
