WHO KNEW Doing Laundry Doesn’t Require a Big Plastic Jug of Detergent?
At about 5” by 7” the laundry sheets are larger than some other brands. They’re made of plant-based soap. They’re biodegradable and dissolve completely even in cold water. Their packaging is kind of good news/bad news, in that they’re sold in a recyclable cardboard box … but inside that box the sheets are enclosed in another box made of plastic. (Perhaps the manufacturers worried about keeping all the sheets dry in case of a laundry room plumbing malfunction?) I may try another brand when these run out, but at least it’s far less plastic than what I’d get in a detergent bottle big enough for the same number of loads.
To test the sheets’ cleaning ability I washed some of the yuckiest items I could think of: the towels we use to wipe down our dogs after a walk through the puddles, mud, and grit so common on the roads during this season. I’m pleased to report that after a spin through the washer and dryer the muddy paw prints and smudges were gone.
You can help stop the rising “Tide” of chemical and plastic pollution. The Co-ops and other supermarkets in our area are selling a widening variety of eco-friendly laundry and household cleaning products. Check them out!
