Sustainable Hanover Sponsors Workshops on Energy Efficiency
In 2017 the Town of Hanover committed to transition to 100% reliance on renewable energy sources for electricity by 2030 and heating/cooling and transportation by 2050. Sustainable Hanover is sponsoring a series of educational workshops on energy efficiency to help the town to reach those goals.
Our first workshop, on March 12, is the NH Saves Button Up, a popular home energy savings workshop. The Button Up workshop is about how to improve the energy efficiency of your home. It is conducted by a certified energy auditor and covers basic building science principles as well as examples of whole house weatherization measures that will button up your home for the heating and cooling seasons. It also covers details about the energy efficiency programs offered by NH utilities (for existing homes and new construction) that provide energy audits, weatherization measures such as air sealing and insulating, and rebates on new technologies and products such as electric and gas appliances and high efficiency electric heating/cooling equipment.
A PDF of this presentation is available on the Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative (PAREI) website: https://plymouthenergy.org/button-up/
Our next scheduled workshop on April 9th will focus on Heat Pumps. Learn how heat pumps work and how they are more efficient and cost effective than other heating/cooling options. Hear from homeowners on their experience with heat pumps in our New Hampshire climate. Details for this workshop will soon be available on the Sustainable Hanover website.
As Hanover moves towards its goal of 100% renewable energy, look for more workshops on how we all have a part to play.
