WHO KNEW You Can Check Out E-bikes from the Kilton Library Anytime?

Although Hanover is no longer sponsoring e-bike lending programs, don’t despair. Anyone can go to the Kilton Library and check out an e-bike to try. You don’t have to wait for a program to start up in Hanover.

The Upper Valley E-Bike Lending Library is now housed at the Kilton Library, 80 Main St., in West Lebanon. You need not be a resident of West Lebanon nor have a library card to borrow a bike. Just go online and reserve a bike the day before you want it. Here’s the link:

You can keep a bike only during the open hours of the library on the day that you borrow it. The library also has helmets. Before taking the bike out, you must watch a video and sign a form. The library has 8 different kinds of bikes in all styles. The E-Bike Lending Library operates from May 19th to Oct. 31st this year.

Four of the bikes from this library travel to other towns and workplaces in July and August. This “Travelling Fleet” allows you to keep the bike overnight.

These Upper Valley bike shops and rental companies also let you rent or try out an e-bike:

• Omer & Bob’s in Lebanon

• Woodstock Wheels in Woodstock

• The Gear House in Randolph
