Window Dressers Update

For the fifth year in a row, the Norwich Energy Committee and Sustainable Hanover completed a Window Dressers Build.  This year, the Lyme Energy Committee joined the effort.  When completed, 235 inserts were constructed for 33 households.  Of these one-third were for customers who qualified for a discount price.  In addition, 6 inserts were rewrapped for 3 households.  Although scheduled for September 25-October 1, the work was completed a day early by the largest number of volunteers (118) of any of the Builds.  As in the past, the COOP provided snacks and drinks for the participants and the Norwich Congregational Church hosted the event by providing space.

The energy saved by window Inserts can easily amount to 8.5 gallons of fuel a year.  In five years, Window Dressers Builds have been responsible for over 1100 inserts.  This is equal to some 9,300 gallons of fuel oil that will be saved this coming winter!  An this will go on year after year.

Thanks to everyone who participated with special recognition for Linda Grey (Norwich Energy Committee), Yolanda Baumgartner (Sustainable Hanover) and Scott Barthold (Lyme Energy Committee) for organizing the Build.   Plans are already underway for 2026.
