Window Dressers Update

The Norwich/Hanover Windows Dresser Build finished its fourth year a day early!  Scheduled September 29-October 2 at the Norwich Congregational Church, 115 volunteers built 237 inserts for 25 households and rewrapped 15 inserts for 6 households.  Finishing a day early is likely due to having many more experienced volunteers. Rewrapping is something of a new experience for our local build and will likely increase in the future.  Allison Pouliot, Window Dressers Program Manager  for Vermont & W. New Hampshire, mentioned that because the Builds in Maine began in 2012, their efforts are almost all rewraps - cats and children being the primary causes.

Window Dressers (https://windowdressers.org) estimates that on average each medium-sized insert saves 8.5 gallons of heating fuel per year.  That means this year’s local build will save 2,159 gallons of fuel this coming winter and for years into the future.

Linda Grey, the primary Norwich/Hanover Coordinator, noted in her report “We truly could not have accomplished this effort without each of you coming together to create community and support local families! We would also like to thank our partners at the Norwich Congregational Church for their outstanding support.”
