The Thetford and Norwich Energy Committees and Sustainable Hanover are working together on this event. We all share goals to encourage electrification of lawn maintenance and reduction of mowed lawn areas to lower the climate impact of lawns.

Gas-powered lawn and yard care equipment is a significant contributor to GreenHouse Gas emissions and other pollutants. According to the EPA, each new gas-powered lawn mower operating for one hour produces as much organic compounds and nitrogen oxide emissions as 11 new cars each being driven for 1 hour. Homes, golf courses and parks may grow more acres of turf grass than U.S. farmers devote to corn, wheat and fruit trees — combined.
