Have you accumulated household items you no longer need or use?

Have your children outgrown their toys, sports equipment, specialized clothing? Do you live where a yard sale is impractical?

Do you hate throwing out perfectly usable items?

This is the sale for you! For those wishing to sell items, the Registration Form will be available Monday, August 1.

Since 2010, the Sustainable Hanover Recycling Group has organized 10 annual giant community yard sales in conjunction with Dartmouth College’s Sustainability Office. Covid-19 caused us to postpone the sale for 2 years but we are back in action for 2022! Saturday, September 3, from 10-2 the sale will be held in the Dewey Field Lot, across from the traffic lights where Rte 120 (N. Park St) joins Rte 10 N (Lyme Rd), Rain or shine.

Many of you have been accumulating items, hoping the Sale would return. So we are giving you advance notice that it is indeed happening. We want to remind you that this is an excellent opportunity to help area residents and graduate students stock up on needed items.

What you need to know ahead of time:

  • This is not a sale for vendors specializing in single type items.

  • You may request 1 or 2 spaces for selling. Each space comes with a second free space for your vehicle(s). The cost of each selling space is $25 with a second check of the same amount to be held until the sale is over. We allot spaces on a first come first served basis.

  • Clothing of the worn t-shirt/jeans variety does not sell well but more specialized clothing like: clothing for infants and young children, exercise wear, sports gear, winter wear, etc.

  • Household goods, kitchen items, tools, craft supplies, household linens, sports equipment are all good sellers. Infant and children’s equipment and toys are popular.

  • All items should be in good working condition. Note: There is no electricity on site.

  • Items of furniture sell well but large items present a challenge to transport. Smaller pieces that can be carried out sell quickly. You will be responsible for transporting large items.

  • Items should be priced to sell. You are responsible for setting the prices. After the sale all items must be removed from your space. Along with the check to ‘rent’ your space we require a second check, which is held until the sales end, returned to you when your space is vacated and clear of stuff.

  • We provide no trash barrels on site, all trash must be taken home with you.

  • We have 124 spaces to ‘rent’. Attendance of buyers has been in the thousands.

  • The cost of each selling space is $25 with a second check of the same amount to be held until the sale is over.
